Got a call from Tommy Thayer, lead guitarist of KISS, asking about prompting for an upcoming shoot.
I admit that I have not been a KISS fan (I'm the wrong demographic), but I certainly have been aware of them for forever. So it turns out that Tommy needed a prompter for a public service announcement. He had done one last year without a prompter and he was not happy with it. He also mentioned that he was not happy with the lighting. I asked who was shooting this one, and he said he didn't have anyone yet. Long story short: Tom shot it, and I did the prompting. We were helped out in many ways by good friend Eddie Pong, who being the biggest Chinese guy you've ever seen, made a great stand-in for Tommy.
When we were making logistical arrangements for the shoot, Tom told Tommy that he wanted to be in the location (Sound Edit in Hollywood) early enough that he would have two hours for lighting. Tommy was astonished... we think the lighting before took 10 minutes -- and looked like it. Tom's lighting was great, and Tommy appreciated the difference.
All went smoothly, Tommy was just a regular kind of guy. There was no rock star attitude. At the end he was very very happy, and said, "KISS will be calling you." Well, OK, bring it on!
